Stationary engine

This stationary engine was originally purchased and installed in a factory called American Saw Works, known today as the Bergen Tool Co., which was located on N.J. State Highway #6. The Saw Works was very well known and produced a variety of products. Some of the products made were hand-held and two-man buck-saws, and large saw mills with blades in excess of 75 inches. During the 1920’s, this pump was placed in service to push water to a tempering or quenching facility in the foundry portion of the facility. The pump was removed during the late 1930’s as the Saw Works was on the decline and the foundry then closed. The engine was donated by the Roehrich Farms of Hackettstown, N.J. to Warren Co. Sail Cans. Committee, who restored the engine. Lottery tickets were sold to benefit an Agricultural Museum for Rutgers University, with Don Jones as the lottery ticket winner. Mr. Roehrich and Mr. Jones were classmates at K State, and Mr. Roehrich would always send tickets to Mr. Jones.
