January 2005 - Oak Parlor Organ

This oak parlor organ came from the   Methodist  Church  in LeRoy.  The organ was made approximately during the 1880’s..


February 2005 - Oliver Typewriter

This typewriter was used at the Daily Republican newspaper office in   Burlington , Kansas  in the early 1900’s when John Redmond was owner and editor.  Donated by Bill Batdorf.

March 2005 : X-ray Machine

This x-ray machine was first used in a 1940s military hospital.  This control unit and other components were used until 1999 in a   Burlington , Kansas  Chiropractic Clinic.  Donated by Dr. Dean Kirchner and Dr. Wayne Kirchner. 

April  2005 - VFW Post Flag

William Elvin Pinon Post 920 existed in   LeRoy , Kansas  for 50 years and disbanded in 2000.  Corporal Elvin Pinon served in the US Army in WWII, Pacific Theater.  His platoon was sent out to build and repair communication lines near  Luzon in the   Philippines  .  He was killed instantly when his squad was fired upon on March 26, 1945 .  Donated by   VFW  State  Post Commander Leon Shaw, Commander Norman Yoho and Quartermaster Dean Kirchner. 

May 2005 : POW - MIA Flag

This was the first such flag to fly at the Veteran’s Park in   Burlington , Kansas  .  One   Coffey  County  soldier, Floyd Henry Robinson, remains missing in action in   Vietnam  .  Donated by Post 1030. 

June  2005 - Geneva Hand Fluter

Patented in 1866, this rocker style iron was designed to crimp, ruffle and press pleats into fabrics by manually rocking the top of the iron over the bottom while the fabric was pressed in between the two.  Fluting irons were widely used between the 1860’s and 1880’s.

July  2005 : Pvt. John Albert Lee McAlister – Oil Painting

Struck by shrapnel from a shell, Pvt. McAlister bled to death during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France on September 28, 1918.  Donated by Don and Vivian McAlister

The Franz Huber family brought this bottle to America from Baden, Germany in 1881.  Donated by Esther Raaf.


October  2005 : Mustache Cup

This silver plated mustache cup was donated by Helen Fearl Shadwick.
